I’m so exhausted… night after night my dreams are a swirl of images and noise and frantic feelings. I wake up in the middle of the night with my jaws clenched, head pounding… I don’t know how much longer I can take this. If I don’t get my stress level under control I’m going to turn into a full-blown insomniac. Anyone out there have a sure-fire way to relax before bed? I’m open to suggestions! 🙂

captivatingbitter, insomnia is a fiend that I know well. I have suffered it since my early teens. I have learned that exercise in minimal amounts before bedtime affords me relaxation and most times restful sleep. Sleep at times is “broken,” but often regained within twenty four hours. Additionally, and if you use over the counter drugs, I infrequently use “Unisom” (the blue pill) which aids by relaxing me. Good luck.

Thanks…I’ll give that a try..I do have a nice 20 minute yoga routine that I could do… Thanks for the tip!
Music can be really relaxing. It sings comfort and solace to our weary troubled hearts.
There are days when it feels like music is the glue to my sanity! 🙂
I too have experienced years of insomnia and fractured sleep. What works best for me now is no computer for an hour before bed and I listen to Bellaruth Naperstak who does incredible guided imagery. I have not been awake for the end ever. If that does not work, I haul my computer into the room and am on my third time through the entire 11 seasons of Frazier. If something particular is bothering me, I start the morning pages of Julia Cameron and keep with it until I feel some peace and acceptance. You deserve to rest.
